Cryotherapy

Information

Cryotherapy ? treatment of punctual body cooling to reduce the tissue temperature, which

-         decreases or eliminates pain

-         stops inflammatory conditions

-         slows down metabolism processes

-         reduces or eliminates swellings

-         increases motion range in treated joints

-         narrows blood vessels and causes their temporary dilatation, active hyperemia

-         slows down reactions and lowers neural irritability

-         increases muscular tension ( with short exposure) and decreases muscular tension (with longer exposure)

Cryostimulation improves patients? clinical and functional state, which contributes to shorter physiotherapy time and accelerates recovery.

Indications

  • rheumatic and degenerative conditions (degenerative joint disease, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis in initial phase, osteoporosis, Bechterow disease, Scheuermann disease etc.)
  • post-injury conditions: after fractures and bruisings ( fresh injuries, delayed union of fractured bones, delayed endoprosthesis application, pseudarthrosis)
  • increased muscular tension (spasticity)
  • post-surgery treatments ? after knee prosthesis surgery, arthroscopy etc.
  • neuralgic pains, pain syndromes (ischialgia, lumbalgia)
  • muscular and ligament conditions, sprains
  • swellings, overweight and obesity ? cryostimulation accelerates cell metabolism
  • cosmetology ? e.g. cellulite reduction

Contraindications

-         cold hypersensitivity

-         Raynaud syndrome

-         cystitis, pyelonephritis

-         vasculitis

-         serious heart conditions and vascular conditions

-         body system weakness and deterioration

-         frostbites
